Found A Bird?
If you found an bird:
If it is baby bird season, and you see a baby bird on the ground - check for parents, check for a nest, look at bird (lots of yellow on bill? tail or no tail?) to determine age, is the bird in danger?, do you know how it got there?...if you are unsure, simply
text us a picture
and we will help determine the best solution.
Note that baby geese and ducks in the heat of panic (like when scared up by dogs or people near a river) will run off and later be called back together by the parents once the threat is gone. Look around for parents and other little ones (where there is one, there is likely more). You can collect the little ones until you find the parents, who may be up or down the river or hidden in shrubbery near by. Put them somewhere safe, walk a bit away, and quietly wait for ma and pa to call the troops together. It can take up to 1/2 an hour, or even longer.
If you know it is injured or otherwise needs help. Place bird in a box, with a towel underneath it. Put the box in a warm room, away from noise, pets, and children. Do not leave it in a cold garage. You may use a towel to catch the bird by walking slowly up to it with your body turned away from the bird (side stepping). Toss the towel over the bird, then carefully pick up. IF it is a bird with talons or a sharp bill, use caution and call for instructions.
Call or text the number below for instructions on where to take it.
