Long Billed Curlews Release, 2011

Help your local wild birds on Giving Tuesday! This will be our 14th year caring for wild birds. We provide medical treatment to the injured, care for babies, and offer all sorts of helpful tips on wild bird care and exclusion. We have specialized training and care for these types of birds, which make up the bulk of the birds needing rescue in Central Oregon. 100% of donations go directly to our patients! Please make a donation to Native Bird Care, we are a 501c3. Thank you!

About Native Bird Care

Native Bird Care is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. We are also 100% volunteer. Nearly all of our donations go toward food, housing, and medical treatment of our patients.

We receive no federal or state government money and depend entirely on public donations. Without public support, we would not be able to complete our mission of saving birds.

The birds we rescue are expensive. They might be small, but most eat live insects, there just is no other healthy way to feed them. Some in fact simply do not eat unless provided the foods they know are edible - which means we order tens of thousands of insects a year.

The average cost for caring for and feeding the birds in our care varies significantly. It depends on what kind of medical treatment and medications they need, the types of food (insects for example), and housing they need. As an example, the Long Billed Curlews you see in the picture above being released at Summer Lake, cost over $2500just for their huge number of live insects they needed to gorge on to grow to 18 inches tall with 2 foot wingspans. Most birds fall in the $200 range with medications, treatment, and foods.

Want to sponsor a particular bird? We can do that! Simply send us a note with your donation and we will earmark it for that bird.

Please make a donation today to help our extraordinary birds, their lives depend on it.

*We are a platinum rated organization with Guidestar. Simply look us up - Native Bird Care of Sisters - to see how we spend your hard-earned dollars.
