Native Bird Care is a 501c3.
100% of your donation goes directly to our bird patients! Platinum rated with Guidestar. 100% volunteer based About Native Bird CareNative Bird Care is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. We are also 100% volunteer. Nearly all of our donations go toward food, housing, and medical treatment of our patients.
We receive no federal or state government money and depend entirely on public donations. Without public support, we would not be able to complete our mission of saving birds. The birds we rescue are expensive. They might be small, but most eat live insects, there just is no other healthy way to feed them. Some in fact simply do not eat unless provided the foods they know are edible - which means we order over from 100,000-200,000 insects a year. The average cost for caring for and feeding the birds in our care varies significantly. It depends on what kind of medical treatment and medications they need, the types of food (insects for example), and housing they need. As an example, the Long Billed Curlews you see in the picture above being released at Summer Lake, cost $300 a week for 8 weeks. Surprisingly, Swallows also go through the insects, they come in at $100 a week for 4-6 weeks. Injureds birds fall in the $200 range with medications, treatment, and foods. Want to sponsor a particular bird? We can do that! Simply send us a an email and we will earmark it for that bird. Thank you for donating to care for our local wild birds. *We are a platinum rated organization with Guidestar.
